Essential oils are nature's defense mechanism. These precious droplets are extracted from the seeds, leaves, petals, stems, and other parts of plants. Essential oils have been used by healers and in spiritual ceremonies for thousands of years. In today's modern world laden with toxic chemicals, we need to rely on natural solutions more than ever.
A few years ago, I read online that the combination of lemon, lavender, and peppermint essential oils promoted a healthy immune system that could support skin and respiratory function during allergy season. The article said to make a six-drop solution, equal parts of each oil, and rub into the soles of the feet, which have the most nerve endings in the body. I'd had eczema since I was a small child and was feeling a seasonal onset flare-up coming on, so I decided to try it.
I was amazed. Over the next few days, I saw the inflammation disappear and I didn't experience my usual itchy skin that came during this time of year. And, it didn't leave me with the side effects of hydrocortisone or the fuzziness of an over-the-counter antihistamine. I figured, if essential oils could help with one thing, it could help with many others.
And it's true. There's an oil for everything.
